Can you believe it’s February already?! Valentine’s Day really snuck up on me this year. If you’re in the same boat, not to worry! Today’s post is a super simple way to add some red and pink to your space in no time. All you need is balloons and tape!
I used small 6” heart-shaped balloons to make this wreath, but if you have a bigger space why not use full sized balloons instead? Either way, your space is sure to look more cheerful and bright. Happy Valentine’s Day!
What You Need
Heart-shaped balloons (6”)
Balloon pump
Clear tape
Scissors
How-To
Step 1 Use the balloon pump to inflate the balloons, tying off as you go.
Step 2 Cut a piece of clear tape, form into a roll, and attach onto the back of the inflated balloon. I found packing tape worked better than regular clear tape, but test your walls first to make sure it doesn’t damage the paint.
Step 3 Attach onto the wall, forming a circle of balloons. Voila!

The Powerpuff Girls printable templates (download here)
How-To
Step 1 Print out The Powerpuff Girls printables and cut out.
Step 2 Open your self-seal laminating pouch and lay out The Powerpuff Girls cut-outs.
Step 3 Peel the backing off the sticky side of the sheet and carefully smooth the two pieces together with a ruler.
Step 4 Cut out the laminated Powerpuff Girls, being sure to cut a bit away from the edge – otherwise the laminated sheet will peel apart. It helps to leave a small tab by the feet of each girl too, as shown.
Step 5 Use a screw-punch to make a hole in the small tab you just left at the bottom.
Step 6 Cut pieces of stretchy cord and thread them through each of the laminated Powerpuff Girl tags. Now the fun part: decorate! Add on beads and pom poms to match and when you’re done tie an overhand knot with the ends.
Streaming The Powerpuff Girls on Hulu and crafting these adorable hair ties will add POW factor to any afternoon!

The Powerpuff Girls’ missions in life alternate between going to school, fighting crime, winning at hopscotch and saving the world before bedtime. The girls are frequently called upon by the town’s mayor to help fight nearby criminals using their powers. While their differences cause them to squabble and tease, their individual strengths combined always lead them to victory. They rely on teamwork, trust, and friendship to thwart evil (in the most adorable way).
Accessorize all your blouses, sweaters and cardigans with this simple and glittery collar pin! Collar chains are a super easy way to add a touch of glam to everyday blouses, to adorn plain coats, or even to dress up wooly sweaters and cardigans. All you need is glittery foam, jump rings, and chain. You can even leave the chain off, if you like – simply pin the two hearts on your collar instead.
The downloadable heart template is included below. This project is so fun, cheap and ridiculously easy that you will want to make a different set for each of your collared shirts! They’re also the perfect Valentine’s Day present, but why not spread the love year round? Make your own Valentine’s Day cards for your loved ones – there are two different printables below – and you’ll be all set. Now, let’s get crafting!
What You Need
Lapel pins – tack and back (or earring pins, or clips)
Chain
Jump rings
Googly eyes
Jewelry pliers
Needle
Glitter foam sheets
Plain card
Marker
Scissors
Hot glue gun (or super glue)
Heart template (download here)
How-To
Step 1 Download, print, and cut out the heart paper pattern. Use a pen to transfer two heart shapes on the back of the glittery foam and cut them out. Make a hole by pressing the needle through the bottom of each heart.
Step 2 Choose the length of chain you want to use by measuring your collared shirt or cardigan – mine was about 5” long. Use your pliers to attach a jump ring to one end of the chain and loop it through the hole in one of the glittery hearts. Close the jump ring with the pliers. Repeat this with another jump ring, the other end of the chain, and the remaining glittery heart.
Step 3 Hot glue the lapel pins onto the back of the hearts and then hot glue googly eyes onto the glitter side. Your charming glittery hearts are ready to accessorize any collar! Needing a lovely card to make an amazing gift?
Step 4 Download and print the gift cards onto cardstock. Choose whichever design you like best! Print both sides, or print the front and back designs onto different sheets of paper and then glue them together. Following the templates, poke holes by pushing a needle through the gift card. Pin the two hearts in and fill in the back of the gift cards.
Are you as excited as we are for the release of The LEGO Batman Movie this weekend? The bat is back! When we’re super looking forward to something we can’t help but get crafty to keep busy, so of course we had to make our own LEGO Batman masks!
We are big fans of The LEGO Movie – we love laughing together as a family! We’re thrilled to see LEGO Batman featured in his own movie and can’t wait to see what he gets up to this time! It’s definitely a must to see The LEGO Batman Movie in theaters THIS weekend.
Cut a piece of black bristol board so that it’s 11” tall and 30” across. Mark the center line with pencil, trace the mouth template 1 3/4” up from the bottom edge, and then cut out.
Roll the bristol board into a tube and tape the back shut. Make sure it fits around the wearer’s head comfortably!
Trace the A and B templates onto cardboard and cut out two of each using a craft knife. Fold A along the dotted line, and then tape B to the bottom of A as shown.
Trace D template onto extra black bristol board and cut out. Use a bone folder and a ruler to make several vertical lines down the center of the piece to create the gentle curve shown above – this will be the nose.
Arrange the two eye panels on the bristol board keeping them as symmetrical as possible. Use hot glue or tape to secure in place directly above the mouth hole.
Trace piece C onto cardboard and cut two. Then tape them to the top of the eye panels, forming brows.
Temporarily tape the nose between the eye panels – you’ll be removing the nose later. Trim the nose to fit if needed, and then use scissors to cut away the black bristol board under the nose to allow the wearer’s nose to fit comfortably underneath.
Cut a snip down the centerline from the top of the bristol board to the brows. Overlap the two pieces and tape in place to form a sloped forehead.
Cut similar snips around the top edge of the back, about 1 1/2” apart, keeping symmetrical as much as possible. For now, just tape the center-back snip closed – we’ll come back to the rest in a minute.
On the front, cut two diagonal snips above the eyebrows and tape to form a gentle slope as shown. Next to each of these, cut curved snips (kind of like upside devil horns). Next cut a strip of black bristol board about 1 1/2” and tape one end to the forehead securely. Pull back gently and then tape to the back, forming what looks almost like a handle across the open top of the mask. Cut off the excess strip and put to the side for later.
Trace E onto black bristol board and cut out two. Slip one into each of the curved snips and tape in place so that the ears are sitting nice and straight.
Next go back to those snips you cut along the back and tape them closed, forming a gentle curve along the whole top of the mask.
Trace F onto more black bristol board and cut out two, using a bone folder and ruler to score and fold along the marked line. Tape to the back of each to add depth.
Trace G onto black bristol board and cut two. Tape in place next to the front of the ear as shown.
Tape strips of black bristol board over the top of the mask to cover the rest of the open space.
To add a bit of width onto the mask, I cut two triangles 9” across the base and 8” tall out of bristol board. Fold each down the center and tape to the sides of the mask. Try the mask on the wearer before doing this step – you might find it isn’t necessary depending on how it fits.
Now that the base structure is done (yay!) it’s time to cover the mask! We used black duct tape, but you could use paper mache and paint if you prefer. For the duct tape method, simply apply piece of tape onto the mask. For a super clean look, cut the tape to match the shapes on the mask. For the eyes, cover with tape and then cut snips like eyelashes and fold them inside the mask for a neat edge.
Continue to cover the mask with tape – we removed the nose as mentioned before to cover it nicely, and then used a small dab line of hot glue to secure it back in place neatly. Use nice sharp scissors to speed up the taping process!
Gather your friends and family to see The LEGO Batman Movie in theaters!
This adorable pink plush bag is absolutely perfect for Valentine’s Day! This is a super simple and fun sewing project for kids (and adults!) and when you’re done, you have a cute accessory to wear. You can customize your heart-shaped bag too: use felt instead of faux fur, or any fabric you have on hand. Try using buttons or plastic googly eyes if you don’t have time for embroidery.
Fancy a heart-shaped coin purse to match your new bag? Simply scale down the pattern to your desired size! And one more tip: you’ll want to make a bunch of these cuties because everyone you know will want one! Spread the love with your friends and family with this cute DIY gift. Let’s get crafting!
What You Need
Printable heart template (download here)
Pink or red faux fur fabric
Zipper
Cotton cord
2” wide ribbon (or scrap fabric)
3/4” -1” wide cotton tape
Felt
Big pompom
Yarn
Water soluble marker
Pins
Sewing needle and thread
Scissors
How-To
Download, print, and cut out the heart-shaped paper pattern. Use a pen to transfer the heart shape onto the wrong side of your fabric, leaving 3/8” seam allowance on all sides, and then cut it out – this will be the front of the bag. For the back, cut the heart-shaped paper pattern along the horizontal line (this is where the zipper will go) so that you now have a top and a bottom. Transfer both shapes onto the wrong side of another piece of fabric, again leaving a 3/8” seam allowance on all sides, and cut out. Cut two pieces of cotton tape 2” long.
Measure your zipper and cut it so that it’s shorter than the horizontal line on the pattern. Cut two pieces of 2” ribbon to 2 ½” long – these will be the tabs and hide the zipper ends.
Place one piece of ribbon onto the top end of the zipper, right sides together. Pin in place and stitch together. Repeat for the other end of the zipper.
Fold open the sewn ribbon pieces as shown above.
Pin the zipper to the top edge of the bottom-heart fabric, right sides together and edges lining up. Stitch.
Unfold and press flat along stitched seam.
Repeat this process with the other side of the zipper and the top-heart fabric edge.
You’ve now finished the back piece, the hardest part of the project – hooray! Press the piece flat along the seams.
Fold the two cotton tape pieces in half. Lay them centered onto the right side of the front-heart fabric as shown above.
Pin them in place so that the folded sides are pointing in and and the raw edges are in line with the fabric’s raw edge.
With the zipper half open, sandwich the front and back pieces, right sides together. Pin them together and stitch all along the edge.
Open the zipper and turn bag right-side out.
Open the zipper for easy access, and pass your needle (threaded with yarn) through the front and center of the bag to stitch on the pompom nose. Sew on securely and tie off.
Felt face: Cut out and transfer the face shapes from template onto felt.
Pin and stitch the pieces in place using contrasting yarn.
Sew the cheeks on with knots and the eyelashes with running stitches, leaving knots at the right side of the fabric.
This is the first (and easiest) option for a simple face made from felt!
Pass the cotton cord through one of the cotton loops on the side of the bag
Tie a knot at the end of the cord that is through the loop. Tie another knot about 4” above the first – this one will sit right below the cotton loop, and the other will be a little tail. Measure how long you want your bag’s strap to be and then repeat these knots on the other end of the cord to match.
Embroidered Face: Use a water soluble marker to draw the eyes and mouth onto the back of the fabric. Start embroidering the eyes using a simple backstitch.
Sew straight stitches for eyelashes and pupils.
Use a big fly stitch to embroider a smiling mouth.
Try to pass the needle through the existing stitches to get your needle from one point to another.
Whether you decorate your heart bag with felt or embroidery, you must remember to avoid leaving long stitches on the inside of the bag. Keep a neat embroidery backside, or try adding a lining to get a perfectly finished inside for your new bag!
Voila! You now have a cute heart bag for Valentines Day!! Reduce or enlarge this pattern to make different sized bags or purses.
